Today we went to Denver to pick up the 10' fireplace, transport it to the house, and set it in place for the installation team.
Transferring the 15'x10' fragile package from the delivery trailer to our rental flat bed truck was tricky.

The warehouse employee ended up gently dragging the unit out of the trailer.

The package is strapped down for the trip to Boulder

The crane arrived as scheduled.

... and its airborne.

Guiding it on to the deck.

Terry of H&S Crane has complete control of this task.

Placing the dolly under the fireplace to wheel it into the house.

SUCCESS! Another challenging task completed.

Several truck loads of dry wall were delivered and the dry wall team got to work.

The kitchen area is mostly done already and looks great.

The East Master bedroom dry wall is all up too.

The insulation work is finished.

After a balmy start to the fall season, the weather is now seasonably cold and we had our first measurable snow last week.

The masons have put up a make-shift tent to continue working in the cold.

Several small heaters take the chill out of the enclosed space.

The stone work looks great.
Some of the driveway concrete was removed to allow adding of more reinforcements to support the stone and to seal the wood wall that was discovered below grade.

The reinforcing iron has been installed to completely support the stone.

The crew took advantage of the exposed foundation to add waterproofing.

Here Chris of Boschen Technologies finishes pulling the last of 20 + miles of low voltage wire.

The spraying of closed cell insulation was finished this week also.

Here is the section that will need supporting foundation work if the stones continue to the roofline.

The column will be all stone. The section to the right of the column will have stone to the window sill and stucco above. To the left of the column the plans call for stone to the roof. Without the supporting foundation, we are limited to extending the stone to the same height as the section to the right of the column.

In the meantime, the masons continue working on other areas.

Gutter Color Choices

The gutter color could either match the soffit (and stucco) color or the roof color.

From most vantage points, the roof is not really visible. Also, the downspouts will connect to the gutter and while the color of the downspouts can vary depending on the surface it traverses (stucco or stone), only 3 of many downspouts traverse stone.
